The Alchemy of Rituals

My art residency at CERVO Mountain Resort in Zermatt was nothing short of transformative. From the moment I stepped off the train, I felt a profound connection to the landscape, the community, and my own creative process. Looking back at my time as a Cabin Essence resident, the entire experience feels like a beautifully woven tapestry. I arrived with a vision titled "The Alchemy of Rituals"—a project inspired by the idea that small daily decisions, like a plastic-free morning coffee or a quiet moment of mountain contemplation, can lead to profound changes in our lives and the planet. In Zermatt, where nature is majestic and man is only a guest, this connection becomes palpable. I can divide my impressions into three main pillars that left the deepest mark on my heart and art.

The Majestic Atmosphere of Zermatt

It is impossible to overstate the creative impact of the surrounding nature. The overwhelming, almost mystical presence of the Matterhorn acts as a silent mentor for anyone who creates. Every morning brought a shifting palette of light—from the soft, pink hues of dawn on the snow-capped peaks to the deep, silent blues of the alpine evening. Walking through the fresh mountain air became a daily ritual of reflection, perfectly mirroring my project's core philosophy. This raw, timeless beauty forced me to slow down, look closer, and listen intently, serving as a powerful catalyst for my artistic vision.

Creative Freedom Inside Cabin Essence

The residency space itself, Cabin Essence, quickly became a true sanctuary. Surrounded by thoughtful, minimalist design and the quiet whispers of the forest just outside the window, I was able to dive straight into my creative flow without external noise. Instead of rushing, the atmosphere allowed me to experiment freely and focus on a series of spontaneous, live plein-air studies, capturing the shifting light and raw energy of Zermatt. A defining, deeply personal moment of my stay was presenting "The Bestia"—a unique guardian spirit sculpture from Ukrainian folklore, handcrafted in glass for its purity and fragility, this sculpture was my special gift to protect the resort and its residents.

Beyond the breathtaking landscapes, what made this residency unforgettable was the unique spirit of CERVO and its "Beyond Exploring" philosophy. The genuine warmth of the entire team, their dedication to eco-conscious living, and the vibrant community made me feel at home instantly. There is a rare harmony here: an ecosystem where contemporary art and high-end hospitality are treated with equal respect.
