when design, responsibility and après-ski come together
At the beginning of the year, CERVO not only celebrated, but also set an example. As a thank you, all employees received an exclusive T-shirt at the staff party – the result of a special collaboration between Swiss fashion label NEUMÜHLE, designer Yannik Zamboni (maison blanche) and CERVO Mountain Resort. A shirt that is more than just a piece of clothing: it tells a story about design, responsibility and the future of the Alps.
The shirt is worn by our employees during après-ski. It is also available to guests in the on-site Bazaar Shop, inviting them to spread the message beyond the walls of CERVO.
The beginning of a shared approach
The collaboration arose from an enquiry from the CERVO branding team. What initially began as a creative project quickly developed into a value-oriented cooperation. At a meeting in the NEUMÜHLE showroom in Zurich, it became clear that everyone involved shared a deep understanding of responsibility, quality and the question of what design should look like in the future.
The central element of the showroom – and later also of the collection – is the boulder: a 3.21-tonne rock from the Linth Glacier. It symbolises climate change and the visible consequences of global warming in the Alps. Its presence leaves an impression – and became a source of inspiration for the design.
Yannik Zamboni also felt an immediate connection to CERVO. As a long-time guest of the hotel, he was immediately impressed by the atmosphere, the design and the values it embodies. For him, it was clear: this project was a perfect fit.
Design as a reflection of alpine reality
The après-ski shirt conveys a clear message: the Gorner Glacier is retreating and could disappear within the next few decades without consistent climate protection measures. As the largest glacier in the Zermatt region, it has strong local significance – and makes the climate crisis tangible.
The motif combines this theme with the visual language of maison blanche. Deconstruction is typical of the label: natural structures are analysed, abstracted and reinterpreted. The surface structure of the boulder serves as the starting point for a pattern that symbolises the diversity, changeability and resilience of nature.
This attention to detail, the conscious play with reduction and honesty, also reflects the identity of CERVO – a place that combines alpine authenticity with contemporary design.
Sustainability down to the smallest detail
The shirt follows a consistently sustainable approach, not only in terms of design but also in terms of materials. It is made from 100% organic cotton – including the fabric, labels and even the sewing thread. The print is water-based, biodegradable and meets the highest ecological standards.
NEUMÜHLE pursues a radical approach to the circular economy: the end of the product's life is considered right from the start of the design process. The shirts are based on a monomaterial concept that enables clean recycling into the biological cycle. Production takes place along a European supply chain – with a focus on durability, quality and recyclability.
More than just a cool shirt
Of course, the shirt should be appealing. Look cool. Be enjoyable to wear. But it can be more than that. As a visible sign of climate change, it should spark conversations, raise awareness and encourage people to question their own consumption.
This collaboration exemplifies what CERVO Mountain Resort stands for: creative freedom with attitude, joy without indifference and design with responsibility. A shirt for après-ski – and for the future of the mountains.
