Molly Altman is a ceramic artist based in Colorado, USA. Her intricate mixed-media sculptures combine wild plants and porcelain.
For her work, Molly carefully collects flowers, foliage, and other botanical material from around her studio and coats them repeatedly in a liquid porcelain that she formulated herself. Inside the kiln, which reaches approximately 1,180°C, the organic material burns away, leaving behind a detailed and delicate ceramic casting of the original plant.
During her time at CERVO, she is creating a permanent installation for a new space taking shape in Zermatt this winter. Made with plants gathered near her home in Colorado, the work will become part of something new we’ll be sharing more about soon.
Come and visit Molly on Friday in the restaurant Bazaar and experience her creative process up close.
A small complimentary aperitif will be provided.
Molly will be staying at CERVO until 16 October.
